Over the past three decades, major food and agriculture corporations have been buying up small and medium-sized farms, to create a massive system of industrial animal production. Today’s factory farms are large industrial facilities called AFOs and CAFOs that have little to no regard or respect for animals, animal welfare, the environment, water quality, air quality, food safety, farm workers health, community and public health, nature and wildlife species, land preservation, and natural habitats. The significant destructive and negative impacts of our system of animal agriculture is well researched, studied and documented. The price of our cheap food and animal products comes at an enormous cost to all of us and the planet.
