Dr. Milton Mills – Humans Are Herbivores Not Omnivores
Dr. Milton Mills answers one of the most common questions about the human physiology: “Are human’s omnivores or herbivores?
In this video by Mercy For Animals, Dr. Mills explains why physiologically, humans are built to digest plant-foods, and how humans are not designed to consume foods from animals, and why foods from animals are actually very harmful to the human body.
After debunking the common misconception that humans are omnivores, Dr. Milton Mills also addresses the repeated question “where do vegans get their protein?”

Quotes from the Film
“When you actually look at the way humans are constructed, we have the anatomy and physiology of a strict plant-eater or herbivore. We do not have any adaptations in our digestive system or in our physiology that is adapted to eating or consuming animal flesh. It is only through technology that has allowed us to consume animal foods, but it is not natural.”
“Humans are often described as being omnivores, but that description is based on watching what many humans choose to eat.”
“When you look at the jaw structure, jaw mechanics, our esophagus, our stomach, and the length of our intestines, and our bodies, it’s very clear that we have the anatomy of a committed herbivore.”
“The insane question to vegans – “Where do you get your protein?” Makes no sense at all. Because all protein is originally made by plants. Any protein you get from an animal source, comes directly from plants, it’s actually recycled plant protein.”
“It’s much healthier to get your protein directly from plant sources, because plant proteins have a much better impact on your health. Plants are better for your immune system; they lower your risk of heart disease, diabetes, chronic disease and cancer. Whereas animal proteins actually increase your risk of cancers, heart disease, and chronic disease. So you absolutely do not need animal food for protein.”
“Just stop and think about it – the largest, strongest, and most powerful animals on are planet are all strict herbivores. So your elephants, rhinos, giraffes, horses, buffalo, cows, hippos – they are all strict herbivores and they get all the protein they need from plant sources.”
“There has never been a study that has shown that dairy calcium protects our bones from osteoporosis. In fact, just the opposite is true. 95% of Asians are lactose-intolerant, so is the majority of the world. The government has been intentionally encouraging us to eat dairy foods that it knew would make humans sick, because of the lobbying efforts behind the dairy industry.”
“We can avoid a lot of these chronic diseases by adopting a strict plant-based diet.”
