Promises
“I get to leave, they don’t.”
Jan Sorgenfrei and award-winning photographer Jo-Anne McArthur, conduct an investigation into the industrial farming of chickens and shed light on one of the secrets of factory farming – it’s all done behind closed doors, in the dark, out of human eyesight, and away from our knowledge and scrutiny. This short film shows how modern day chickens are raised.
“Keeping people in the dark enables this industry to exist without scrutiny. Photography is my contribution. My way of shining a light into the darkness. My way of creating change. My promise.”
“You too can make a promise to not cause harm. To look—to really see—to never turn away.”
